SōL West Foundation is a nonprofit corporation committed to drastically improving the quality of food served to our children and young adults.

Our Mission:

Support leaders in food and nutrition to provide the most nutritious meals possible for those they feed. Focus on the children of our nation to help enable a lifetime of optimum health.

What We Do

The SōL West Foundation conducts and supports the education and proliferation of ancestral based, whole food nutrition and regenerative food systems, with an emphasis on benefits to children and young adults. We provide education and research, through classes, events and digital content. We offer expertise and financial support to others engaged in similar nutrition, research, food system and well-being activities. We link communities directly with their local and regional food systems.

The SōL West Foundation will work to empower and train leaders in the food community who will then go on to serve the most nutritious meals possible, for their entire lifetimes' of work. Every good meal served will improve the well being of humanity - especially our children. Each day this act will change hundreds, thousands, and even millions of meals served.

Our Work

IMPROVE SCHOOL LUNCHES

Support those working to change the meals children are fed at schools to nutrient dense, locally sourced and regeneratively grown foods. Nurture healthy metabolisms in our young to reduce the rapid increase of chronic illness in the United States.

HELP TRAIN LEADERS

Support the cost of high value training for chefs and administrators responsible for leading food service programs. Our Plate it Forward program is the most direct way to help train a new leader.

HEALTHY CHEFS = HEALTHY KIDS Program

When chefs can care for themselves, they can better care for others. We support helping chefs understand that poor food choices lead to poor health outcomes, specifically conditions related to pre-diabetes, Type-2 diabetes, and metabolic syndrome.

RETAIN FOOD KNOWLEDGE

Fund the creation of training videos, guides and events that develop and strengthen nutritional intuition. We must retain the art and knowledge of cooking with real, whole, nutritious foods.

OurPlate Pilot Program

SōL West is driving the most important change we can imagine for our nation's children: Demonstrating through a pilot program that every school meal served can support the strong physical and mental development of our children - while being delicious and rewarding as we do it!

Please donate and support the development of the OurPlate (Public School) Pilot Program. Keep us on track to launch in the fall of 2026 with our partner, Odyssey Charter Schools in Florida.

Our timely tasks include recipe development, menu testing, training sessions, website development, community events and Florida site visits.

SoL West has brought together the full extent of our food, farming, cooking and research community to design and carry out this work. Your generosity is needed to help us close the gap on funding for 3 months of development.
